Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate various financial and accounting reports and projects
- Assist in, and approve monthly financial statements
- Process various balance sheet reconciliations and associated journal entries
- Review the monthly General Ledger activity
- Review sponsorship, accounting and player contracts to ensure proper financial treatment
- Responsible for writing annual performance reviews, and goal setting for employees
- Coordinate the year-end audit
- Review other contracts to determine financial impact

Graphic Designer (mid-to-high-level designer)

Position Summary/Purpose The Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualization and design of solutions from concept to completion. Candidate should have strong management skills and understanding of layout, typography and color theory. Position requires internal and external client presentations and constant interaction with other functional departments (e.g. Marketing, Communications and Community Relations).
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and production of final mechanicals for creative services requests (e.g. logos, web banners, collateral print materials, advertising, multi-media, etc.)
- Provide support to creative services department, especially in art direction, production, file preparation and other pre-production tasks
- Design and production of web-specific graphics (e.g. banners, ads, flash pop-up ads, etc.) Working closely with MLSnet.com staff
Minimum Requirements
- Skills/Knowledge:
- Knowledge and understanding of basic design concepts and techniques.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.
- Ability to supervise print work with illustrators and photographers.
- Deadline management.
- Ability to multi-task by properly dividing time among several projects at one time.
- Experience/Education:
- Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in production and pre-press procedures; preferably in sports or event marketing
- Experience in web-specific graphics and software.
- Experience supervising junior designers and/or production staff.
- Other:
- Schedule flexibility.

This position, in sports public relations, is for an individual with strong communications skills who enjoys creatively selling ideas that result in story placement. The position is based in New York, NY.

1. Strategic placement of Major League Soccer and Soccer United Marketing business and lifestyle stories (off-sports page) and develop relationships with these outlets
2. Compile and pitch story ideas for off-sports-page, lifestyle and business placement
3. Create calendar of key dates for commercial announcements and news placements (working with editorial calendars)
4. Devise talking points or positioning on activations and other commercial initiatives
5. monitor and compile weekly report on key sports business and off-sports page initiatives in other leagues
6. compile media list of business writers, feature writers, off-sports-page writers (fashion magazines, etc.) with detailed information for mailing, e-mail blasts, etc.
7. work with photography / MLS creative department to ensure art and photography is available that enhances pitches

MLS/SUM International Communications intern
Job responsibilities:
- Assists in generating publicity of MLS and SUM among US Spanish language and international media (translations, etc)
- Assists in media operations surrounding all SUM properties
- Assists in planning and execution of all SUM media events
- Compile focused media material and content for both SUM and MLS events
- Assists in the day to day media requests
- Assist Coordinator, International Communications with releases and general tasks on both MLS and SUM publicity calendars
- Support all strategies and goals of the department as directed by Manager, International Communications
The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills in the English and Spanish language, as well as knowledge of Major League Soccer.

Soccer United Marketing

Primary Responsibilities
- Proactively sell the SUM - Major League Soccer, U.S. Soccer and other SUM strategic properties to potential commercial partners: The critical component of this function is to generate revenue for SUM properties.
- Develop and purpose strategic SUM sales initiatives: A requirement of the position is to be able to target, research and craft strategic sales proposals for SUM in regards to both specific properties as well as prospective sales categories - providing SUM the ability to stay on top of changing marketplace conditions.
- Create relationships with both major U.S. corporations as well as major media and sports marketing agencies: In addition to selling directly to clients, a successful candidate will also create meaningful relationship with the major sports marketing agencies (inclusive of Hispanic clients) in the United States.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills and relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree a minimum
- 3+ years of relevant sales experience targeting Corporate America
- Strong understanding of Hispanic marketplace and key agency/client decision-makers
- Proficient in Spanish
- Knowledge of the sports sponsorship marketplace
- Strategic thinker
- Understanding how to research , predict and develop category specific sales strategies
- Ability to identify and create new sales programming assets
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills (Powerpoint)
- Proven ability and passion to sell integrated partnerships inclusive of media, intellectual property rights and grassroots programming
- Proven history to mine new business (cold calling, research, etc.)
- Must be a team player and have the ability to multitask
