While his name might lack the star power of David Beckham, Cuatehmoc Blanco, and the like, Real Salt Lake's addition of defender Jean-Martial Kipre will bring plenty of value to a Utah side looking to bolster its defensive corps. The 22-year-old impressed the RSL coaching staff during his trial in the 2007 preseason and is expected to challenge for a spot in Head Coach John Ellinger's starting XI from the moment of his official arrival early in the season. A defender by trade, Kipre's ability to close down forwards with his blazing speed and penchant to provide supporting runs down the flank on the attack could also allow the Ivory Coast native to see time as a wide midfielder. A product of legendary French side Paris Saint-Germain's youth system, Kipre certainly has the pedigree to succeed and is expected to provide plenty of worth as one of the squad's Youth International players.
