Acquired
RSL: Via trade with Los Angeles Galaxy on 6/21/07 along with FW Robbie Findley in exchange for MF Chris KleinLAG: Selected in first round (12th overall) of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft
As part of the squad's youth movement in 2007, Real Salt Lake got a two-for-one special when it acquired the versatile Nathan Sturgis and forward Robbie Findley in a mid-June deal with the LA Galaxy. While only 20 years of age, the internationally-tested Sturgis stepped in immediately to start in the RSL midfield in July before a calf injury in August sidelined the Floridian for nearly two months. Sturgis' RSL debut was put on hold last year while he represented the U.S. at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, and the Utah club expects to miss his services again due to another National Team call-up this year, as Sturgis is a prime candidate to start at center back for the U.S. Olympic National Team that hopes to qualify for the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing in August.
