After a nomadic start to his MLS career, Andy Williams has officially found a home in Utah, as the gifted midfielder returns to Real Salt Lake in 2009 as the only player to make the roster in all five seasons of the club's existence. While Williams' stat line for 2008 will credit him with one goal and three helpers, the Jamaican international deserves much more credit than that, as his technical skill on the outside of the team's midfield diamond made RSL a different - and much more dangerous - team during his 26 appearances, a total that tied his second-most games played across 10 MLS seasons. In between his League performances, Williams also made room to return to international play, re-joining the Jamaican National Team after a two-year retirement and featuring in nearly every match for the "Reggae Boyz" during FIFA World Cup qualifying.
Williams' skill and longevity has put him at or near the top in several of Real Salt Lake's career statistical categories, as he leads the pack with 105 games played; 75 starts; 6,924 minutes; 143 shots; 151 corner kicks and 186 fouls suffered while also placing second in assists (15); third in shots (51) and fourth in goals (9). The midfielder's production is not just limited to team annals, as the 31-year-old is a top performer in League history in three categories thanks to his 596 fouls suffered (3rd), 367 corner kicks (9th), and 72 assists (11th). In an RSL midfield that grows more talented year by year, Williams will continue to be called during the team's first full season at Rio Tinto Stadium - a new house for a team that "Bomma" can truly call his home.
