07/03/08 Dynamo @ Real Salt Lake video Chris Wingert gets sent off

Acquired

RSL: Via trade with Colorado Rapids on 7/13/07 in exchange for RSL's first round 2008 and second round 2009 MLS Supplemental Draft picks.
COL: Acquired on 1/20/06 from the Columbus Crew in exchange for the Rapids' natural third round 2006 MLS SuperDraft selection and a conditional 2007 MLS SuperDraft pick
CLB: Selected by The Crew in the second round (12th overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft.

If there was a more perfect fit for Real Salt Lake's revamped defensive corps than winger Chris Wingert, than RSL hasn't found him yet. The former MAC Hermann Trophy recipient out of St. John's plied his trade on both the right and left flanks for the Utah in 2008, showing his ability to mark up opposing attackers and supply effective service no matter which side he lined up on. The dependable 26-year-old has appeared in all but one of RSL's 46 games since joining the club midway through the '07 campaign, missing that clash due only to a red card suspension last August. After his steadiest MLS season to date in 2008, Wingert earned an invite this past January to his first U.S. Senior Men's National Team camps, which he then in turn parlayed into his first full "cap" against Sweden, experiences the lead-by-example defender will hope to build upon as he looks to take RSL to the next level in 2009.
