Rice-Eccles Stadium is the premier stadium of the Intermountain region serving the six state area of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado and Nevada. By playing host to a variety of events such as the EA Sports Supercross, various concerts including U2, the Rolling Stones and ‘N Sync, soccer matches and of course football games, Rice-Eccles Stadium has provided entertainment to fans of all interests and ages. The Stadium staff takes pride in operating a state of the art facility by implementing the most modern techniques used in the industry today. Rice-Eccles Stadium is committed to continued excellence of events, superb facility maintenance and quality customer service.

First and foremost the stadium is home of Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake and the University of Utah Division I Football team, as well as the site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It is located on the beautiful University of Utah campus in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. From an east bench elevation of 4,657 ft, the Stadium overlooks downtown Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake. It is located 30 minutes directly east of the Salt Lake International Airport. Airport #2 is also approximately 30 minutes away and can be used for private aircraft and charters. Rice-Eccles Stadium can be reached from downtown Salt Lake City by traveling eastbound on 400 South to 1400 East.

The stadium underwent a 50 million dollar renovation beginning May 1997 and was completed September 1998. It was financed by private donations, bonds, and the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. It is now one of the most beautiful and modern stadiums in the U.S.

Population of Salt Lake City is 171,000 with 1,500,000 along the Wasatch Front, which runs from Brigham City to the North, and Payson to the South.

From I-215 Eastbound

  • > As you approach north end of 215 belt route watch for Foothill Blvd. Exit.
  • Take Foothill Blvd. Exit and follow signs directing you to Foothill Blvd. There are no turns off of the exit.
  • > From exit proceed North on Foothill Blvd. then road curves to the West. Do not turn off of Foothill Blvd.
  • > Foothill Blvd. will turn into 500 South as you continue West toward downtown.
  • > As you approach Guardsman Way get in right lane.
  • > Continue through intersection for about 1 block past Guardsman Way.
  • > You will see the Stadium and parking lot on the right side of the road.
  • > If you get to the intersection at 1300 East you have gone too far West.
  • > The Stadium is located between 1300 East and Guardsman Way on the north side of 500 South.

From I-15 Southbound

  • > As you approach Salt Lake City Center watch for the 400 South Exit.
  • > Take 400 South Exit and turn left off of exit.
  • > Proceed East on 400 South through downtown area.
  • > 400 South will turn into 500 South as you continue east up the hill past 900 East.
  • > As you approach 1300 East get in left lane.
  • > Continue through intersection for 1 block past 1300 East.
  • > You will see the Stadium and parking lot on the left hand side of the road.
  • > If you get to the intersection at Guardsman Way you have gone too far east.
  • > The Stadium is located between 1300 East and Guardsman Way on the north side of 500 South.

From I-15 Northbound -- As you approach Salt Lake City Center watch for 600 South Exit.

  • > Take 600 South Exit and turn right off of exit.
  • > From exit proceed to 400 South.
  • > Proceed east on 400 South through downtown area.
  • > 400 South will turn into 500 South as you continue east up the hill past 900 East.
  • > As you approach 1300 East get in left lane.
  • > Continue through intersection for 1 block past 1300 East.
  • > You will see the Stadium and parking lot on the left hand side of the road.
  • > If you get to the intersection at Guardsman Way you have gone too far east.
  • > The Stadium is located between 1300 East and Guardsman Way on the north side of 500 South.

From Salt Lake International Airport -- Take I-80 East from Airport.

  • > Take 400 South Exit proceed East to 1300 East.
  • > 400 South will turn into 500 South as you continue east up the hill past 900 East.
  • > As you approach 1300 East get in left lane.
  • > Continue through intersection for 1 block past 1300 East.
  • > You will see the Stadium and the parking lot on the left hand side of the road.
  • > If you get to the intersection at Guardsman Way you have gone too far east.
